There is a common occurrence in the majority of households in

this world. This disturbing event is known by a single

question... “What do you want for dinner.”

You see most people do not know the answer to this question

and it is indeed a problem. If one does not know what to eat

then they will either not eat or waste a lot of precious time

trying to decide their dinner plans.

The Problem:

The Dinner

Dilemma

(Research Project)

The Goal:

Our motive for looking into this problem is to try and help our common man or woman with

these moments of wasted time. Our goal is to investigate this problem further and find the

roots in order to come up with various solutions to the problem.

Research:

I learned in this process that when interviewing different individuals (even within the same

family) that they will have some things in common but will also surprise you on issues

which were thought to have been unchangeable. An example of this would be that every family member thought a different one was in charge. I assumed there would be a

hierarchy established but my hypothesis was wrong.

The HMW was difficult to wrap my head around. I started broad and whittled my questions

down to a more narrow one. In doing so I think I went too narrow and had to branch out

again to better encompass the problem at hand. Doing so helped me generate more ideas

to fix the issue.

I possibly missed writing down a few things that could have been vital to issues

surrounding the topic. In doing so my problem to solve might have changed and so would

my HMW.

How Might We...

How might we make the process of making plans for dinner easier?

What also could have gone better was my crazy 8’s portion of the assignment. I am a

slow reader, hearer, thinker, writer, drawler. This makes timed work very difficult for me.

Ideate:

When interviewing occurs again I will make sure to spend more time making my questions and

think of ways to make a deeper dive into the interviewee’s responses.

I will try to take better notes so as to not leave out possible vital information.

I will spend more time truly identifying the problem and creating a better HMW to generate

various solutions.

My favorite part of this project was sorting everything into categories and coming up with a

solution to a problem. In this world there are many problems and it is a good feeling to be helping

fix even a few of them.

My least favorite part of this project was the interviews, but that does not change my career path.

There will always be an obstacle of some sort before you and it is vital to your success to not just

walk away from the challenge.
